Look Up is a year-long programme of temporary artworks commissioned by Hull UK City of Culture 2017, specifically made for Hull’s public spaces and places, co-curated by Andrew Knight and Hazel Colquhoun.
Hull 2017 is co-commissioning a number of Look Up artworks in partnership with The Deep. Each artwork will be very different, and will take place within different seasons of the Hull 2017 programme.
Former Beverley Minster virger Neil Pickford and the staff at Monks Walk in Highgate are celebrating the first anniversary of the pub’s successful reopening by asking Beverley folk to help them buy the freehold.
The pub reopened on 8 April 2016 after a refit that removed all the TVs and jukebox, transforming it into a proper ‘Chatter’ pub – and it has been so successful that Neil thinks his appeal for crowdfunding will be very popular.

A play “Made in Hull” and boasting an entirely East Yorkshire cast is sure to be a City of Culture hit when Beverley’s East Riding Theatre is transformed into “Shakers” – the oh-so-trendy cocktail bar where everyone wants to be seen.
It is here we also meet Nicky, Adele, Carol and Mel, the bars long-suffering waitresses, who invite you to pull up a table, order a drink and relax in their company.
Dresses made from old duvets, sheets and pillowcases were just some of the creations on display made by students in a recycled fashion competition.

Voluntary youth organisations across the region are celebrating after receiving grants at a ceremony hosted by the East Riding of Yorkshire youth and family support service.
Positive Activities Grants totalling £52,000 were awarded to successful youth organisations from across the county by the chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor John Dennis, at a ceremony at County Hall in Beverley.

Work is now nearing completion on 15 new chalets at South Cliff Beach, Bridlington, located near the town’s Park and Ride site, which are due for completion by the start of the summer season.
The ‘boat hull’ style chalets will be available for hire from East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and add to the selection of chalets the council already has available to hire in the resort.

Thousands of people from across the country descended upon Bishop Burton College this Mothers’ Day to witness the birth of the new lambs, pet them and help with feeding at this year’s Lambing Sunday.
Hundreds of school children in Bridlington, Driffield and Pocklington will get the chance to see the Tour de Yorkshire Trophies as they go around the county ahead of the third race, which starts in Bridlington on Friday, 28 April.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Road Safety Team, working with race organisers Welcome to Yorkshire, has arranged for both the men’s and women’s Y-shaped trophies to visit the schools on Monday, 27 March.
Beverley Under 14s had a convincing 29-12 win away at Malton on Sunday, having beaten the Malton team 69-0 at home earlier in the season they knew this would be a very different game, Malton would be stronger and the referee was likely to favour the home team and the pre match assumptions proved to be correct.

Hull born physical training instructor, Mr Dave McCoid has been awarded a Sports Personality & Lifetime Achievement Award by Colonel Andrew Kennedy, the Commandant at the Defence School of Transport.
The ex-soldier has worked at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield for over 7 years as a civilian specialist instructor.
