Hull born physical training instructor, Mr Dave McCoid has been awarded a Sports Personality & Lifetime Achievement Award by Colonel Andrew Kennedy, the Commandant at the Defence School of Transport.

The ex-soldier has worked at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield for over 7 years as a civilian specialist instructor.

Petition Launched Against Education Funding Cuts For Beverley Schools

East Riding Councillor, Denis Healy, has launched a petition after figures reveal the devastating impact that the Government’s £3bn cuts to education funding will have on East Riding schools, including Longcroft School and Beverley High School.

Schools in the East Riding are bracing themselves for budget reductions of £14.9m in real terms by 2019, meaning an 8% cut in pupil funding, equivalent to 400 teachers’ jobs.

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart met local farmers at Mr Jono Dixon’s farm in Patrington, to discuss their concerns about calls from several environmental groups to ban the well-known weed killer, glyphosate.

Some studies have shown that glyphosate is safe but further studies have also highlighted the chemical as a probable human carcinogen limited evidence that suggests glyphosate may act as an oestrogen mimic, which is of significance for breast cancer risk.
