A powerful full-circle story is unfolding in the heart of Beverley, as a brand-new restaurant opens its doors in a building filled with personal history, ambition, and a decade-long journey.
Zarley’s Wine Bar & Grill has officially launched in the town centre, taking over the former Lucias site and already drawing crowds of eager locals during its opening weekend.
The response has been overwhelming. Diners have packed the venue in its first few days, with the team describing the venue as “nothing short of amazing.”
For owner Eyyup Demir, the opening marks far more than a new business venture—it’s the culmination of a journey that began in the very same building 15 years ago.
Back in 2010, Demir first walked through the doors not as an owner, but as a waiter when the venue was home to Lucias. Within a week, he had worked his way up to manager, going on to spend five years building his skills and experience in the restaurant trade.
“This place means a lot to me,” he said. “I started here as a waiter, so to come back and open my own restaurant in the same building is a real full-circle moment.”
After leaving the site, Demir went on to launch Central 42 in 2016—a venue that has since become a firm local favourite. Now, nearly a decade later, he returns to where it all began, this time at the helm of a brand-new concept.
Zarley’s Wine Bar & Grill offers a modern, relaxed dining experience, with a menu ranging from steaks and seafood to pizzas and pastas, alongside cocktails, fine wines, and premium drinks. The venue has been designed to cater for everything from casual lunches to evening dining and social drinks.
One standout feature already catching attention is its weekday lunch offer, allowing guests to mix and match two dishes—from salads to wraps and pizzas—for £26.95, giving diners a flexible and social way to enjoy their meal.
The restaurant’s name carries a deeply personal meaning too—“Zarley’s” is inspired by Demir’s two daughters, Zara and Leyla, reflecting the family-driven heart behind the business.
“We wanted to create somewhere people can come for any occasion,” he said. “It’s relaxed, it’s stylish, and it’s something we’re really proud of.”
With strong early momentum and a compelling story behind it, Zarley’s is quickly establishing itself as one of Beverley’s most exciting new openings of the year.
And for Demir, this is just the start of a new chapter.
“This is just the beginning,” he said. “We can’t wait to keep welcoming people in and building something special here.”
