An established partnership between Ferens Art Gallery and the Royal Collection Trust will bring a total of five exceptional loans from Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace to Hull between 2017 and 2021 as part of Masterpieces in Focus.

Rembrandt van Rijn’s The Shipbuilder and his Wife (1633) complements Hull’s maritime heritage, the gallery’s strength in Dutch 17th century art and the latest exhibition of contemporary art on display:

TASL is pleased to announce that it is the city’s new provider of non-emergency medical transport service for patients registered with a Hull GP. TASL will provide a fully patient-centred service with a focus on safety, timeliness, comfort and wellbeing.

TASL has been actively working with NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to ensure a seamless transfer of services with journeys from 1 April already transferred into TASL’s booking systems.

Hull City Council, in partnership with a number of key stakeholders including local rugby league club Hull FC and the armed forces, will commemorate the life, career and bravery of one of the city’s greatest heroes, a century on from Harrison being posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross in 1917.

The former rugby star, Sutton resident and Lime Street School teacher was killed in action during World War One in May 1917 at Oppy Wood, France.

Beverley and Bishop Burton College will again take part in Yorkshire’s oldest rugby seven-a-side tournament, the 59th John Smiths Pock 7s, at Pocklington RUFC, next Friday (14 April).

The event has been held in Pocklington every Good Friday since 1959, and it has grown from humble beginnings into one of Yorkshire’s biggest sporting and social days out, with the local rugby fraternity plus many ‘ex-pats’ making their way to Percy Road for an annual Easter reunion.
