Parents and carers of Year 6 children in East Riding will find out in September which secondary school their children will attend.
A total of 3,584 applications were submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, most of which were made online – an increase of 3.2% from last year – and 3,441 places were offered to students according to their first preference.
To celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, mums, babies, family and friends are invited to a picnic at various locations across the East Riding.
Several events are being organized by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s children’s centres, with the support of integrated specialist public health nurses from Humber NHS Teaching Foundation Trust, to help give breastfeeding mothers support and help.

Careers Hubs were first developed in 2018 and Yorkshire and the Humber was one of the first regions where these were located.
The team at Puffins Galore! is seeking Puffin Pals – volunteers to befriend each of the puffin sculptures which will be landing in East Yorkshire in early July.
Appearing along the coast, with a cheeky twist inland, the forty-two giant, artist decorated puffins will settle at locations along a trail from Bempton to Kilnsea, with clusters in Bridlington, Hornsea, Withernsea and Hull.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s public health team first launched the Inclusion Health vehicle back in November 2021, as part of the wider East Riding Inclusion Health service.
This project brings together council services including public health, leisure and libraries, as well as external partners such as the Humber NHS Foundation Trust, the Food Poverty Alliance and the foodbank network, working with community groups and organisations, all with the aim to become a trusted and supportive presence within the local authority.
Following the success of The Made in East Yorkshire Christmas Market in Beverley a series of newly formed ‘East Riding FEASTivals’ will be coming to towns from January 2022.
The East Riding FEASTival will be a celebration of our high streets, through an event that will feature street foods, bars of distinction, alfresco dining, live music, and children’s entertainment served up with fun, colour and character.
