East Riding Libraries have joined forces with the Alzheimers Society to host drop-in sessions to promote good brain health.

Events will be held across the region including in Beverley at the local library on the first Monday in the month from August.

As a type of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease affects the memory, thinking, and behaviour of the person. As the symptoms progress, they become severe enough to interfere with the day-to-day activities of living.

According to science, staying active and engaging in healthy lifestyle habits, such as exercising and eating a balanced diet may contribute to brain health.

The sessions are drop-in centres to promote good brain health. They will offer information about indicators of memory issues, and also advise on the next course of action.

Samantha Watson,  Brain Health Dementia Advisor from the Alzheimer’s Society, said:

“The public can pop along for an informal chat to discuss any memory worries they may have. We can offer support and information, and advise on what to do next.”

Events being held will co-inside with Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month which occurs in September. It aims to promote a global discussion about dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and the brain.
