After their fine performance the previous week this was a disappointing day for Beverley. Nor did the final score in any way flatter Billingham.
A hard fought and thoroughly enjoyable game between two well-matched sides. After their trouncing at Burnage the previous week Beverley came back in fine style and might easily have won this.
Plenty of spirit but not much memorable rugby. After recent rain and overnight frost the going was pretty heavy and this was never going to be a classic.
In the end this was a disappointing scoreline for Beverley. In recent weeks despite not winning they have been playing increasingly well and a comprehensive victory has looked to be just round the corner.
This match was Beverley’s to lose. And at the death they duly did. They had led 8-3 from early on and had successfully rebuffed all Cleckheaton’s efforts to get back into it.

A fine autumn day and ideal conditions for rugby but in the end not much cheer for Beverley RUFC. Perhaps predictably they found themselves totally outclassed.
Pretty much a no-contest. Sandal are a polished side almost certainly destined for promotion while Beverley are in a state of transition following the summer departure of many of their senior players.
Some good rugby but not a particularly memorable afternoon. Beverley had a good first half and led 21-17 at the break but fell away in the second half allowing Billingham to leave with a bonus point win.
Although the score line reads as a horror show for Beverley RUFC, it must be said it wasn’t all that it may seem. Sheffield were outstanding in the first half in every facet of play from their offloading in the forwards
Beverley make their way down to South Yorkshire this weekend having secured their first win of the season last week against Burnage.
Not exactly a classic but a good win for Beverley RUFC. The match throughout was hampered by damp conditions and a persistent drizzle which added to its scrappiness.
Beverley RUFC first match of a new season. The earlier rain had eased up and playing conditions were ideal. Sadly the game did not quite live up to the anticipation.
