HULL : Opera North Returns To Hull To Make Makes Music At The Deep

Opera North returns to The Deep next week with a series of music and movement sessions for the attraction’s youngest visitors and their parents.

Inspired by the fascinating marine environment to be found in Hull’s award-winning aquarium, the family workshops will take place at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.45pm on Tuesday 29 August, Thursday 31 August and Friday 1 September.

Sewerby Hall And Gardens Accredited As Learning Destination

Staff at Sewerby Hall and Gardens are celebrating the fact that the venue has been validated as a Learning Destination by Scarborough Children’s University, supported by the University of Hull.

The accreditation means that Children’s University passport holders who visit Sewerby Hall and Gardens outside school hours can be awarded an hour for visiting the house itself; an hour for completing one of the trails; an hour if they take part in a drop –in activity; and an hour for visiting the zoo.

Hornsea South Promenade Plans Secure Coast Communities Funding

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has welcomed the Department for Communities and Local Government’s (DCLG) announcement of £3.77 million of Coast Communities Funding towards plans for the redevelopment of Hornsea South Promenade.

The plans were developed alongside the Hornsea Area Regeneration Partnership and the existing users of the site, including the commercial fishermen, Hornsea Inshore Rescue and the Hornsea Sea Angling Club, and received planning permission in February 2016.

A programme of talks and photography workshops has been announced to accompany the hugely popular Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition running at the Treasure House in Beverley until 22 April, one of the key East Riding events in Hull UK City of Culture 2017, in which East Riding of Yorkshire Council is a Principal Partner.

Tuesday 21 March will see a talk by award-winning wildlife photographer George Stoyle (current winner of the British Wildlife Photography Award) at the Treasure House, at 6.30pm : ‘Photography in Conservation and Environmental Research’.
