Handling the collection and recycling of residents’ household rubbish, the 200 strong team have earned a nomination for Team of the Year in the public/third sector category at the annual awards.

Holderness Woman Prosecuted A Second Time For Dog Microchipping Offences

A Holderness woman must now pay over £1,500 after being prosecuted for a second time for failing to update the contact details on her dog’s microchip, which costs just £16.

Lorna Caddy, 38, of Main Street, Great Hatfield, failed to appear at Beverley Magistrates on Wednesday, 26 April where she was facing a charge under the Microchipping of Dogs (England) Regulations 2015, which came into force in April last year.

Kite Festival To See Spirits Soar In Bridlington This Weekend

The weekend (Saturday, 6 and Sunday, 7 May) will see the sky over Sewerby Fields, in Bridlington, awash with colourful kites as part of a two-day festival.

Hosted by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Bridlington Tourism Association (BTA) and the Northern Kite Group, the event, subject to reasonable wind and weather conditions, will see a number of internationally-renowned experts put on a display to entertain local residents and visitors to the resort.

The ‘Culture Train’ is to bring musicians from Paragon Station and play free concerts at six venues including Bridlinton station itself from April 1st to June 3rd as part of a project funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s ‘Active Creative’ 2017 funds.

East Riding Taxis Branded With New Green and White Livery

A scheme which will brand taxis with distinctive white and green livery is to be rolled out across the East Riding.

For the last three months, a number of hackney carriage operators have been working alongside East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s licensing team to take part in a pilot scheme which has seen white taxis branded with green markings and displaying a green Yorkshire rose symbol.

Thousands of spectators are expected to line the streets of the East Riding on Friday, 28 April as the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire gets underway in Bridlington before passing through East Yorkshire and taking in Driffield and Pocklington for the first time.

The ceremonial start takes place outside Bridlington Spa, at 12.35pm, before the riders leave the town, passing by East Riding Leisure Bridlington and out via the A614.

Arup To Design And Pre-Construct Yorkshire Harbour And Marina

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Bridlington Harbour Commissioners have appointed internationally-renowned professional services firm Arup to undertake project design and pre-construction work for the Yorkshire Harbour and Marina Project.

Funded by a £3.5 million Local Growth Fund grant, awarded by the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership, Arup will start work in March and will provide a design for the preferred concept, advice on potential funding sources, preparation of papers to support any statutory orders and consents and the development of tender documentation for the project’s construction. This work is anticipated to take until late 2018 to complete.

Beach Dog Restrictions To Begin For Summer Season

Dog owners are being reminded that restrictions excluding their pets from certain parts of beaches along the East Coast will come into force on Monday 1 May this year.

The annual exclusion, enforced by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will run until Saturday 30 September and was brought in to help families and visitors enjoy the seaside without being bothered by nuisance dogs or fouling.
