The Business Day will place business networking at the heart of a day of discovery and insight. Speakers already announced include Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge CBE and John Simpson CBE. The Business Day will be hosted by Alexander Armstrong.

Wildlife Photographer Of The Year Exhibition In Beverley Now Open Every Sunday

The continuing popularity of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Treasure House in Beverley means that East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced today that the free exhibition will now be open every Sunday for the remainder of its run.

The exhibition closes on Saturday 22 April, so the final Sunday opening will be Easter Sunday (16 April).

Urgent Care Plans Approved By East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group

The future of urgent care services in the East Riding of Yorkshire have today been confirmed, with three urgent care centres open 365 days per year set to be introduced in Beverley, Bridlington and Goole, replacing the current minor injury units across the region.

The decision was also made to create an integrated community and intensive rehabilitation centre in Beverley, which will be supported by Time to Think beds, meaning current community hospital beds in Bridlington and Withernsea will close. A number of Time to Think beds will be located in Holderness and Bridlington.

Early-Bird Tickets For The Tidal Waves Beach Festival In Bridlington

The Tidal Waves team are reminding people wanting to attend the Tidal Waves Beach Music Festival in Bridlington on 9 and 10 June that ‘Early-bird’ tickets, priced at £14 for the Friday evening and £36 for Saturday, are available until 31 March, 2017. Festival tickets for both days are £48.

There are also child tickets available – £20 for the Saturday, or £30 for the full weekend. There will also be a platform for wheelchair users (restricted to 30 plus one carer/friend).

East Riding of Yorkshire Council have announced that the floodlights at Beverley Minster will be switched off for an hour on the evening of 25 March, in support of Earth Hour, between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Earth Hour is co-ordinated by WWF – an annual global celebration where people across the world switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about the future of the planet.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council staff are helping residents to get online as part of a two week campaign that includes drop-in sessions at multi-service centres (MSCs) in Brough, Driffield, Haltemprice, Hessle, Pocklington and Withernsea.

Be Online encourages people to use more online self-service facilities and access websites such as Learn My Way to improve digital skills with free online courses. These include online basics and safety, finding work online and CV writing.

Work being carried out to support unpaid carers in the East Riding and the resources available to help them in their caring roles is due to be discussed by the area’s Health and Wellbeing Board.

In 2011 there were over 37,000 carers providing one or more hours of unpaid care per week in the East Riding, 8,500 of whom were providing 50 hours or more of care.

Tickton Bridge Closed To Wide Vehicles For 12 Weeks

Roadworks Due To Start On B1248

Tickton Bridge, on the A1035 road to Beverley, is to be closed to extra wide vehicles only, for 12 weeks to allow for important repairs to be carried out.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council contractors will begin work on Monday 13 March on a scheme to replace the metal safety railings, known as parapets, on either edge of the bridge, over the River Hull and Barmston Drain.

Roadworks Due To Start On B1248

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that is it to carry out emergency repairs to the carriageway on the B1230 Keldgate Road (the road from Walkington to Beverley) near the cattle grid on the Westwood from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 March, 2017.

The works will be carried out between 09.30 and 15.30 on all three days, and the road will be completely closed between those times. Traffic will be diverted via Bentley and the A164
