Compost Giveaways Enjoy One Of The Busiest Years Yet Across The East Riding

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s annual compost giveaways enjoyed one of their most successful years yet – with 5,000 bags given away free to residents.

Ten giveaway events were held across the East Riding during May, in Market Weighton, Elloughton, Preston, Driffield, Beverley, Bridlington, Hornsea, Withernsea, Pocklington and Goole.

Annual Care Home Games Show Age Is No Obstacle

The annual Care Home Games grand final was held at East Riding Leisure Beverley last week where older residents from the East Riding battled it out for the top prize.

The event was organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Sport, Play and Arts Service and enabled a total of 16 teams from care homes across the East Riding to compete in the grand final of the competition which saw players ranging in age from their late 60s to 102 years old, put their Boccia soft bowls skills to the test.

Those who become Shared Lives carers are carefully matched with the person they look after and receive full training and financial support. They also have access to the network of professionals behind Shared Lives, who provide practical help and advice at every stage of the process.

At the first weekend in June, T Sport Racing attended the third round of the British Truck Racing Championship at the high-speed circuit in Thruxton near Andover.

On early Friday morning, the team was among the first ones to be all set for a great race weekend on UK´s fastest circuit. Due to noise restrictions, however, neither they nor anyone else were able to practice or test their set-up until Saturday morning.
