Exhibition Explores Visual Culture And HIV As It Is Today

An exhibition inspired by gay cruising saunas and sex clubs that were closed by law during the AIDS crisis in the 80s and 90s will launch in Hull this month.

British artist John Walter will transform Artlink’s gallery space into a multi-media, multi-sensory and immersive show, exploring the relationship between visual culture and HIV today.

Victory For Atwick In The Save The Red Phone Box Campaign

Atwick Parish Council and MP Graham Stuart are celebrating after a last-minute reprieve from BT for the Atwick red phone box. Hundreds of residents took the time to fill in the village survey to say that they emphatically wanted to see the return of a K6 red phone box on the village green.

On 13 May a car crashed into the fully-operational phone box on the beautiful village green in Atwick, destroying it; in early June BT put up a notice on the site to say they had removed the remains of the box and that anyone who wished to comment on this should contact East Riding Council.

Tension Mounts In East Riding As Decision Is Awaited On Future Of Urgent Care

Following the announcement by the East Riding of Yorkshire CCG in March 2016 that it had plans to close the MIU units in Hornsea and Withernsea, Graham Stuart MP, Member of Parliament for Beverley & Holderness launched a hard-hitting campaign to stop the CCG from closing MIU units in Hornsea and Withernsea, supported by the Hornsea League of Friends, the Withernsea and District Health Forum, and the Holderness Health Alliance.

The survey conducted by the CCG as part of its consultation found very limited public support for the package of proposals, despite a number of very leading questions. In Holderness 90% of people did not agree with the question asking whether they would be prepared to travel further to visit an Urgent Care Centre.
