Beverley Beavers u9 squad travelled to take part in the East Yorkshire u9 Rugby Union Festival on a most beautiful Autumn Sunday where temperatures reached a balmy 18 degrees for most of the day.

Teams in attendance were Hornsea, Hull Ionians, Driffield, Pocklington, Bridlington and hosts Scarborough. The schedule was pretty packed but yet again the Beavers brought their ‘A’ game.

New Exhibition ‘Centre of Attention’ Uses Prosthetics to Create Art

An exciting new exhibition that uses the unique medium of prosthetics to create highly stylised art pieces is being brought to the city by Artlink as part of Square Peg, a diversity and disability arts programme funded by Hull UK City of Culture 2017 and backed by its Principal Partner Spirit of 2012.

Working in collaboration with The Alternative Limb Project, Fly Girl Films, Kelly Knox and Omkaar Kotedia, Centre of Attention will showcase cutting edge prosthetic limbs, film, and photography. It opens on Friday 3 November and will be on display every weekend through the month at Hull’s Princes Quay until Sunday 26 November.

Beverley Community Lift, the local charity that provides transport services for elderly and disabled people, was dealt a severe blow recently when its Chief Executive, Jan Stainforth, received a letter from the Department for Transport, setting out its proposals to impose restrictions that could have a seriously damaging impact on the Charity’s core services, possibly even leading to Beverley Community Lift being forced to close down.

East Rising Ward Councillor, Denis Healy, whose St Mary’s ward includes Beverley Community Lift, explained the problem in more detail following a meeting with Jan Stainforth.
