The Potting Shed in Beverley has created the ultimate winter comfort food … Christmas dinner reinvented as a burger!

Made with a juicy turkey mince patty, stuffing and cranberry and topped with parsley relish, The Winter Burger combines everyone’s favourite Christmas dinner ingredients – but on a bun.

And, if all that wasn’t perfect enough, it has a side of skin-on seasoned fries too …

The bar and gardens, on Flemingate, is already known for its Yorkshire reworking of two much-loved dishes. It famously created a proud burger homage to the county, sandwiching a beef patty with bacon and Yorkshire blue cheese between two Yorkshire puds, and it has a Yorkshire cheeseboard pizza which also showcases the award-winning Yorkshire blue cheese.

But now it’s added new variations for autumn/winter including a halloumi stack burger with Portobello mushrooms, red pepper and hummus, and another twist on a winter favourite – piri piri sausages and mash with onion rings and red wine jus.

There’s also a hearty roast pumpkin, butternut squash and chilli soup, and unbelievably tasty halloumi fries which come with Mediterranean spices and pomegranate molasses.

Dessert lovers have a choice which includes a super-indulgent Oreo cheesecake with its own signature Potting Shed touch … a terracotta plant pot.

The menu has been created by new Potting Shed executive chef Jordan Aspinall.

“Everyone really likes our Yorkshire burger and pizza, so I thought it would be good to come up with something else which plays around with a classic and hopefully makes it even better,” he said. “So many people love burgers and they love roast turkey on Christmas Day, so why not combine the two?

“There’s probably only one way you can improve on the traditional Christmas dinner and that’s by putting it on a bun!”

Jordan says the Potting Shed is keen to offer a wide choice of comfort food, ideal for winter.

“There’s lots of vegetarian options on there and our vegetable hot pot is guaranteed to combat even the most freezing weather,” he added. “We’ve also included a gluten free choice with our burgers, so the regular bun can be swapped for a GF New York bagel.”
