Beverley Minster’s National Lottery Sanctuary Project Reaches Key Stage
Crucial work is underway at Beverley Minster to restore part of its crumbling fabric and tell its remarkable story of Sanctuary thanks to a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £406,700 awarded last year.
Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project focuses on the Minster’s Lesser South Transept with the works involving re-leading the roof, repairing the roof timbers, restoring crumbling stonework and improving the guttering.
The Work Of Paul Clifford Showcased In New Online Exhibition
Beverley Art Gallery’s new online exhibition called Legacy shows the mixed media artwork of Paul Clifford, a British multi-media artist and academic who has developed his career in the UK and internationally.
Paul’s work is inspired by the First World War memories of his father, who served in Egypt as part of the East Riding Yeomanry regiment.
Free Bespoke Cycle Training On Offer To East Riding Residents
During the lockdown, many residents have been walking and cycling as part of their daily exercise.

Japanese Students Work With Beverley Art Gallery On A Future Exhibition
Beverley Art Gallery has teamed up with the University of Hull and Ochanomizu University in Tokyo to get a group of Japanese students to collaborate on a future exhibition.
The exhibition, ‘Reflections of Japan in the East Riding,’ was originally planned for the autumn of 2020, but will now most probably be postponed into 2021.
Graham Stuart MP Puts In Bid For Restoration Of Beverley-York Rail Line
Local MP for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart, has submitted a bid to the Department for Transport calling for the restoration of the Beverley to York rail line as part of the Government’s ‘Restoring Your Railways’ scheme, which would provide government funding for a feasibility study on the return of the route.
