Hull Car Park Charges Set To Return From Monday 15 June

Hull City Council is to reintroduce charges in its car parks across the city from Monday 15 June.

It comes after charges for on-street car parking were introduced from Monday 18 May.

Short-stay and long-stay sites including Albion Street, Lowgate, History Centre, Tower Street and Trippet Street, Osborne Street, George Street, Pryme Street, Francis Street and the ice arena will resume charging for parking from Monday 15 June.

A number of signs encouraging people to observe two-metre social distancing rules have already been put in place across all car parks, along with extra safety measures including hand sanitisers and pedestrian direction posters.

Motorists are also encouraged to use cashless payments by accessing the MiPermit scheme which offers a safer, cleaner and more convenient way to pay for parking.

Councillor Daren Hale, the portfolio holder for economic investment and regeneration, said: “We have been liaising with businesses and other private car parks on the reopening of car parks across the city.

“As the lockdown eases in phases, businesses start to reopen and people begin to return to the city centre, some of our services will also begin to resume their normal operation.”

Hull City Council is already working alongside its partners including Hull BID to put in place guidance and protection to keep public spaces safe.

Places such as Trinity Market have introduced one-way systems and extra safety measures such as hand sanitisers and social distancing guidance.

Councillor Hale said: “I’d like to remind people to take personal responsibility for their and actions and respect those around them by observing social distancing rules. We all have a duty of care and need to work together and stay safe.”
