Census 2021 – Households Across Hull Will Soon Be Asked To Take Part

The census, run by the Office for National Statistics, is a once-in-a-decade survey that gives us the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales. It has been carried out every decade since 1801, with the exception of 1941.

It will be the first run predominantly online, with households receiving a letter with a unique access code, allowing them to complete the questionnaire on their computers, phones or tablets.

A charity which is pioneering research into cancer, heart disease and dementia is being supported by a holistic therapist’s nationwide sales network in memory of a man who lived 300 miles away.

The Daisy Appeal, which is based at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham and covers the Hull and Humber region, will benefit from a full week of commissions donated by Karen Engstrom from her business in Ackworth, West Yorkshire.

Council Agrees 3.49% Council Tax Increase

Councillors have agreed to increase the council’s part of the council tax charge in the East Riding by 3.49% for the 2021/22 financial year.

At a Full Council meeting on Thursday, 11 February, councillors voted against the proposed 4.99% increase, which had been allowed by the Government without having to hold a referendum, but for the lower figure which will raise £4.9million of additional income for the council and will result in an increase of £52.43 a year for a Band D property.
