Town progressed into the semi final of the East Riding Senior Cup for the first time in their history after a hard fought win against Hessle Rangers at Longcroft.

Town started with a strong wind behind and looked to make the most of this. However they were dealt an early blow when midfielder Ben Thomson injured his ankle and had to be replaced by Kegan Rose after only 10 minutes.

Beverley have a bad habit of conceding early scores before jolting into action and Sunday was no exception when with three minutes on the clock the visitors ran a penalty move from the halfway line straight through a nonexistent Beverley defence for the first try.

Beverley hosted a resurgent Selby at Beaver Park on a miserable wet and grey day when conditions were bound to be difficult to allow much entertaining rugby and, so it proved.

The match was held as a Memorial game to celebrate the life of Lee Morley, a good friend of the club who, sadly passed away last year. Proceedings from the match and lunch raised over £3000 to be donated to Ward 29 at Castle Hill hospital at the request of Lee’s family in thanks for the care given to Lee during his extended time there.
