2017 marks the coming of age of the much loved Beverley & East Riding Early Music Festival, (Friday 26 – Monday 29 May) as the Festival celebrates its thirty years of music-making alongside an extraordinary year for culture in the region, as Hull is 2017 City of Culture.

Initiated by the local authority, with the aim of attracting visitors to the area to discover a rich medley of history, striking architecture and music of the past, over the years the Festival has grown to be recognised as a ‘jewel in the cultural crown’

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is inviting families with children under 5 years old to discover the new free resources at the Treasure House Museum in Beverley.

In any weather, families can have fun ‘At the Beach’ with the new interactive beach mat, natural seaside objects and sea creatures. They can also enjoy looking at seaside-themed books while sitting on ‘pebble’ cushions.

New activity sessions aimed at helping people with Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease to get mobile and meet others living with the same long term conditions are being launched in the East Riding.

The weekly ‘Grin and Tonic’ activity sessions will start at East Riding Leisure Beverley from Wednesday 18 January, 1-2pm and at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice, from Friday 20 January, 11am-12noon.
