Sewerby Hall and Gardens will be hosting the East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club’s (EYTCC) spring gathering of historic and classic vehicles on Sunday, 20 May, from 11am-4pm, giving visitors the opportunity to view over 150 vehicles and chat with their owners.

Formed in 1982, the EYTCC is for enthusiasts of vintage and classic motor vehicles. The club has many events throughout the year and a large membership – with a diverse selection of vehicles – generally over 20 years old.

Body cameras are to be worn by civil enforcement officers working in the East Riding for the first time in a move to increase safety and prevent abusive incidents.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to supply all members of its civil enforcement team, whose job is to enforce parking regulations across the area, with the body cameras from this week.

A fund-raising day held by Beverley Market traders raised more than £2,000 for the Daisy Appeal at Castle Hill Hospital.

Families took part in a children’s treasure hunt and there were great prizes on offer donated by businesses from Beverley and the surrounding area in a grand raffle and a tombola at the event in Saturday Market on Saturday 5 May.

A large builder’s bag full of household waste and a plastic children’s paddling pool were found fly-tipped by the roadside in Shepherd’s Lane, Beverley, in January 2017.

The sky over Sewerby Fields, in Bridlington, is set to be awash with colourful kites as part of a two-day festival, hosted East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Active Coast programme and the Northern Kite Group and sponsored by St Stephen’s Shopping Centre (Hull).

The event will take place on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 May and will see displays from a number of internationally-renowned experts as well as traditional fairground rides and a food village, with plenty of local produce on offer to create the perfect picnic.

Plan Your Day For The Tour de Yorkshire 2018 As Roads Will Be Closed

The East Riding will welcome some of the world’s top cyclists, including Olympic silver medallist and UCI Road World Championship winner Mark Cavendish, on Thursday, 3 May when Beverley hosts the start of both the men’s and women’s Tour de Yorkshire.

Thousands of spectators are expected to line the race route in the East Riding as the peloton races through the area, taking in a number of towns and villages including Tour de Yorkshire debutants Howden and Hornsea.

Cllr Denis Healy is supporting the family of the late Ivan Usher in their quest to realise his dream of building a memorial stand at Beverley Town Football Club.

Ivan, who was a well known figure in Beverley, passed away last autumn at the age of 83. He worked for 30 years as a PE teacher, and spent the whole of his professional life at one school; Longcroft, where he taught generations of children to enjoy and appreciate their fitness.
