Celebrations for Care Home Open Day were extra special at Claremont House, Beverley as the Home celebrated its 1st anniversary.

Staff and residents welcomed guests to enjoy a “Big Commonwealth Lunch” as part of the Global Friendship campaign, choosing to create dishes from New Zealand – including mouth-watering lamb roasted with garlic and rosemary followed by mixed berry pavlova.

VIP guests included The Mayor of Beverley, and The Vice Chairman of , Margaret Chadwick who were both accompanied by their respective consorts.

Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Ann Willis, who attended the event commented;

“We both enjoyed our visit and tour of Claremont House and were made to feel very welcome by both staff and residents. Claremont House has a friendly and caring environment. With the owners attention to detail and investment, it makes a pleasant and safe place to stay.”

Denise Stephenson, Managing Director Crown Care Group said;

“The national event this year is all about Connecting Communities and at Crown Care we firmly believe in the ethos of building connections, communities and friendships which lies at the very heart of everything we do.”

“We actively participate and organise so many vibrant and wonderful events with local organisations, schools, playgroups, small businesses and places of worship, to name a few. We are always delighted to welcome visitors to our homes as community is so important to our residents and staff.”

Inspiration came from Claremont House activities co-ordinator Susie Carmen, who is from New Zealand. The idea was for the home to swap national recipes with a similar venue internationally, serve them to residents and share video highlights of their respective days.

To complement Claremont’s 1st anniversary celebrations, afternoon tea was served and celebrations continued with a Royal party to honour The Queen’s 92nd Birthday, Global Friendship and a chance to celebrate all the different people, cultures and relationships within our communities.

Residents and guests danced and sang to the superb guitarist and singer, . The sun shone throughout the afternoon enabling residents and guests to enjoy the weather on the patio.

Visiting guests were given a tour of the luxurious facilities throughout the day where they were able to chat with residents, families and staff about what Claremont House has to offer.

Residents and staff gathered to meet the VIPs and celebrated as The Mayor unveiled a plaque to mark the Home’s Anniversary. VIPs were introduced to residents who were thrilled that the Mayor took the time to stop and chat with them.
