1st Molescroft Scouts have had some good news with regard to finding a new home within the grounds of Longcroft School.
The scouts were served with an eviction notice from their current site. The notice was issued as a result of plans by the local authority that want to sell off the land for development.
Beverley’s Crown Post Office has won the support of East Riding of Yorkshire Council which bosses want to relocate.
Post office bosses have earmarked the Crown Post Office in the centre of Beverley for closure. They want to relocate the service to the nearby WH Smith store.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has said that capital funding for Longcroft School was a result of an agreement reached between both parties in January 2018.
Furthermore, the council also confirmed that the meeting was between senior management of the school and directors from the council.
Molescroft Scouts have been offered assurances that Cllr Denis Healy will do all he can to make ERYC see sense. Cllr Healy was speaking following a visit to the Molescorft Scouts who are currently based at Longcroft School.
Both the Scouts and air cadets face an uncertain future as the council look to offload land for housing. Both groups both been given notice and told to vacate the site by the local authority.

Cllr Denis Healy is supporting the family of the late Ivan Usher in their quest to realise his dream of building a memorial stand at Beverley Town Football Club.
Ivan, who was a well known figure in Beverley, passed away last autumn at the age of 83. He worked for 30 years as a PE teacher, and spent the whole of his professional life at one school; Longcroft, where he taught generations of children to enjoy and appreciate their fitness.
As the anniversary to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I approaches later this year, Molescroft Parish Council has restored the village’s Roll of Honour.
Parish Councillors David Boynton & Jackie Heffer formed a working group, with the aim of restoring the Roll of Honour which lists the names of 20 Molescroft servicemen who took up the call to arms in the conflict. The roll records the death of only one serviceman Lieutenant Edmund Wigfall Military cross.
Generous members of Beverley & East Riding Golf Club helped last year’s Captain Jeff Worrall raise more than £3,000 for local charities.
Mr Worrall said he was delighted to present cheques for £2,000 to Becky Read representing MacMillan Nurses and £1,080 to Jan Stainforth of Beverley Community Lift.
Beverley and East Riding golf club is set to receive over £26,000 to restore the Westwood’s iconic 200 year old Anti Mill, from a pot of cash paid by developers to support recreation and leisure projects.
Last March, East Riding ward Councillor, Denis Healy, encouraged local community clubs to come forward to bid for the money, known as “Commuted Sums,” which is earmarked for leisure and recreation projects.
Councillor Denis Healy will be continuing his support for Beverley Street Angels, the volunteer group that helps keep people safe in the town centre on weekend evenings, when he joins them on patrol in Beverley this coming Saturday night.
Cllr Healy spent a January Saturday night with the Street Angels a year ago, and on Saturday he will be donning his high vis jacket again to highlight the importance of the work undertaken by the Street Angels volunteers in the town.
