East Riding of Yorkshire Council is delighted to announce a large-scale programme of events called Out of this Word as its fourth and final event as a Principal Partner of Hull UK City of Culture 2017.
‘Out of this Word’ brings top writers, poets, playwrights, artists and musicians from across the UK to the East Riding to celebrate the power of language.
People in Beverley have something new to enjoy after the Daisy Appeal installed 250 ceramic daisy’s in the grounds of Beverley Minster.
Volunteers and young children spent the morning assembling and installing the daisy’s which will be sold off with all funds raised going to the Daisy Appeal.

Former Beverley Minster virger Neil Pickford and the staff at Monks Walk in Highgate are celebrating the first anniversary of the pub’s successful reopening by asking Beverley folk to help them buy the freehold.
The pub reopened on 8 April 2016 after a refit that removed all the TVs and jukebox, transforming it into a proper ‘Chatter’ pub – and it has been so successful that Neil thinks his appeal for crowdfunding will be very popular.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council have announced that the floodlights at Beverley Minster will be switched off for an hour on the evening of 25 March, in support of Earth Hour, between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.
Earth Hour is co-ordinated by WWF – an annual global celebration where people across the world switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about the future of the planet.
As the Molescroft area continues to expand with all the new housing, the local primary school is having to turn down places for families living in its local catchment area.
Local ward Councillor, Denis Healy, asked County Hall education officials for a report on school place demand at Molescroft primary school, and discovered that 85% of applications made for a place at the school over the last 4 months have been unsuccessful.
