Former Beverley Minster virger Neil Pickford and the staff at Monks Walk in Highgate are celebrating the first anniversary of the pub’s successful reopening by asking Beverley folk to help them buy the freehold.

The pub reopened on 8 April 2016 after a refit that removed all the TVs and jukebox, transforming it into a proper ‘Chatter’ pub – and it has been so successful that Neil thinks his appeal for crowdfunding will be very popular.

Earth Hour is co-ordinated by WWF – an annual global celebration where people across the world switch off their lights for one hour to show they care about the future of the planet.

Local ward Councillor, Denis Healy, asked County Hall education officials for a report on school place demand at Molescroft primary school, and discovered that 85% of applications made for a place at the school over the last 4 months have been unsuccessful.
