With less than a month until the record breaking Paul Roggeman European Open Beach Championship (EOBC), the world’s largest three-day beach angling festival, entries are reeling in.

The event, renamed in memory of its founder, celebrates its 24th birthday this year and will run from Friday, 24 to Sunday, 26 February, with an estimated 1,000 anglers returning to the East Yorkshire Coast, with its HQ at Sand Le Mere Holiday Village, hoping to reel in a share of £35,000 in prize funds.

Led by local instructors Sandra Thompson, Sheila Dickinson and Austin Holt, the classes were organised to demonstrate just a few of the activities residents in the area can get involved with, bringing more people together to have fun and create new friendships.

Public Help Council Wardens In Fight Against Dog Fouling

Better information from members of the public helped East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s dog wardens issue almost double the number of fixed penalty notices for dog fouling in 2016 than in 2015, figures have revealed.

In 2016, the council’s dog wardens issued 28 fixed penalty notices to owners who failed to clean up after their pets, compared to 11 in 2015.
