New Play Coming To Burton Constable Hall This Spring

Burton Constable Hall and Lit Up will premiere a new play this spring, revealing the surprising story behind the scenes of one of the East Riding’s most treasured stately homes, and legendary 18th century gardener Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.

Written and directed by Rachel Feldberg, director of Ilkley Literature Festival, Mr Brown’s Directions is a complex story of love, loss, entanglement and disagreements.

The weather was cold and miserable when the teams took the field at Beaver Park for Saturday’s Yorkshire Division 1 match between Beverley and Old Brodleians and Brods immediately made their intentions clear making a sustained attack on the Beverley line.

Beverley RUFC however defended resolutely and after 5 minutes Brodleians were awarde a penalty in front of the posts. The kick hit the post and was cleared by Beverley and they mounted a sustained attack on the Brodleians line resulting in Steve Wiggill scoring wide out.

Nun Who Saved Jews During Holocaust Honoured In Hull

A nun who protected Jews during the Holocaust has been honoured with the 29th Lord Mayor Centenary Plaque this week.

Sister Agnes Walsh (1896 – 1993) was born Clare Walsh in Hull in 1896 and lived at 75 Lowgate (1906-1916). Clare Walsh entered into the Daughters of Charity in 1916 and subsequently became Sister Agnes Walsh.
