James Westmoreland Completes Both Rounds At Thruxton

Beverley racer James Westmoreland competed in round seven of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) around the notorius Thruxton circuit in Hampshire on board the Gearlink Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Qualifying saw him place the Kawasaki thirteenth on the grid with a 1min 15.2sec lap.  As racing got underway he dropped back to eighteenth after a slow start.

East Riding’s £2.35m Road Dressing Programme Almost Complete

Around 70 miles of road has been improved this summer as part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s annual surface dressing programme.

This year’s £2.35million scheme, which began in May, has seen work carried out at 160 sites across the East Riding to repair and maintain road surfacing to help extend the life of the highway.

Research Shows Yorkshire Least Environmentally Friendly

A leading vegan charity has published research that shows a staggering 40% of Yorkshire-based respondents have jokingly answered it results in a “wide range of dishes that can be eaten” when asked about animal agriculture’s impact on the environment.

Research commissioned by The Vegan Society showed that Yorkshire and the Humber was one of the least environmentally friendly group surveyed, with 7% doing nothing to help the planet on a weekly basis.

Atwick Parish Council and MP Graham Stuart are celebrating after a last-minute reprieve from BT for the Atwick red phone box. Hundreds of residents took the time to fill in the village survey to say that they emphatically wanted to see the return of a K6 red phone box on the village green.

On 13 May a car crashed into the fully-operational phone box on the beautiful village green in Atwick, destroying it; in early June BT put up a notice on the site to say they had removed the remains of the box and that anyone who wished to comment on this should contact East Riding Council.
