An independent fostering agency based in Beverley is reaching out to individuals and families who are interested in becoming carers with an event in their local office.

Orange Grove Fostercare will be opening their doors from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Wednesday 6th November for a Meet and Greet session at their office, located on Second Floor, Rear Office, Reed House, Annie Reed Road, Beverley, HU17 0LF.

Walking For Health Programme Celebrates 16 Years

East Riding’s Walking for Health programme has celebrated its 16th year of providing health walks for the community.

The first walk was launched in October 2003 at what was then Beverley Leisure Complex, with one walk being led once a week. There are currently 22 different locations covering large towns and some villages, offering 1,031 yearly, 86 monthly and 21 weekly walks.

British actor Rory Maguire will star as Dennis in Selladoor Family and Beano Studios’ new stage production Dennis & Gnasher The Musical! The show will be at Bridlington Spa for eight performances from Tuesday 28 January.

Rory is currently starring as Gerard in American Idiot (UK Tour & New Zealand). His previous theatre credits include Summer Holiday (UK Tour), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Avalon, Canada), Mamma Mia (UK Tour), Peter Pan (Greenwich Theatre & Rickmansworth), George’s Marvellous Medicine (88 London Road, Brighton), Grease (BKL), Ushers (Arts Theatre & Edinburgh Festival), Aladdin (Brighton Emporium) and Shrek (UK Tour).

East Yorkshire Judo Academy accepted an invite by Klungsbacka Judoklubb to travel to Sweden for a weekend of competition and training.

The team of 7 players aged between 12 and 17 years old and along with 2 of EYJA’s coaches, made the trip to compete at the Gothenburg Open Judo Tournament. Klungsbacka Judo offered superb hospitality allowing the East Yorkshire squad to stay at their club.

Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, has written to schools in Beverley and Holderness to encourage them to get involved in the National Cyber Security Centre’s CyberFirst Girls’ Competition.

Created in 2016 as part of the Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy to respond to evolving digital threats to the country’s infrastructure, the NCSC runs CyberFirst; which is a series of freely available short cyber courses aimed at teaching children aged 11-17 about cybersecurity.

Hospital executive, Lee Bond, is about to embark on the challenge of a lifetime as he bids to run the London marathon and raise £10,000 for the WISHH.

The charity raises money for Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. Funds raised will enable the opening of a sensory room for children with additional needs including Autism, ADHD, ADD, or for children experiencing anxiety or trauma attending the Hull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital.
