Hull City Council Awarded Funding To Build More Homes

Hull City Council has today been awarded £362,355 by Homes England to facilitate building 121 new homes. 

This will comprise 12 homes for affordable rent and 109 for sale, with quality open space integrated into the development.

The money, which is part of Homes England’s Local Authority Accelerated Construction (LAAC) funding programme, has been allocated to a site on Grange Road.

It will be used to fast-track the development of 121 new homes, 12 of which will be for rent and 109 for sale. Work has already started to prepare the site.

The Grange Road scheme is the latest phase in the council’s Citywide programme, a partnership with Keepmoat Homes, Strata Homes and Home Group established in 2015.

To date, the partnership has built more than 675 new homes and a further 600 new homes are currently in the pipeline.

Cllr John Black, Hull City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing said,

“Our extensive housing regeneration programme is transforming neighbourhoods across the city. With our citywide development partners, we have facilitated more than 675 new homes already and, as a Council. built 425 new homes for affordable rent. This acceleration funding enables us to continue our ambitious programme, including tackling challenging sites.”

Stephen Kinsella, Chief Land and Development Officer at Homes England, said: “This funding will enable the local authority to prepare their site for development and to bring forward the construction of new homes, which will be built out at pace using modern methods of construction.”
