Soldier From Beverley Becomes First Female To Win British Army Photographer Of The Year

A soldier from Beverley has scooped the British Army Photographer of the Year prize for her outstanding work. Corporal Rebecca Brown, 29, who attended Longcroft School says she is overwhelmed and also proud to win.

Cpl Brown is based at Army Headquarters with the Combat Camera Team. Before joining the military she used to work in health care but has always had an interest in photography.

Pumping Stations That Provide Flood Protection To Be Upgraded

A £1.2m project to update two pumping stations that reduce flood risk and drain low lying agricultural areas into the River Hull is set to begin soon.

The Hempholme and Wilfholme pumping stations, which operate on the River Hull between Driffield and Beverley, need to be refurbished in order for them to continue reducing the risk of flooding in the area at times of heavy rainfall.
