The chairman and leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council have today paid their respects to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who has died at the age of 99.
In a joint statement chairman of the council, Councillor Pat Smith and leader of the council, Councillor Richard Burton paid tribute to The Duke who “dedicated his life to supporting The Queen”.
Libraries And Customer Service Centres To Reopen From Monday
East Riding Council has announced details of the reopening of East Riding Libraries, Mobile Libraries, and its Customer Service Centres and Multi-Service Centres from Monday, 12 April, in line with the government’s roadmap.
East Riding Libraries will continue to offer the Order and Collect service at the door for those customers who prefer to use it, and will also be open for limited browsing (maximum of 30 minutes, which may be reduced at the busiest times).

Huge Increase In Downloads Of Free Ebooks And Audiobooks From East Riding Libraries
East Riding Libraries have seen a huge 329% increase in the number of eBooks downloaded since March 2020, and a 95.5% increase in the number of audiobooks downloaded free with their library memberships.
Librarian Pamela Taylor-Bramwell explained: “We’ve been delighted to have welcomed over 4,500 new members (in addition to our 45,000 existing members!) since March 2020.
