HULL : Parents Urged To Apply For Primary School Places

Parents and carers in Hull have until Monday 16 January 2017 to apply for a full-time primary school place for their child starting school in September 2017.

Anyone with a child born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 can apply online, our preferred way, for up to three schools via the council’s website www.hullcc.gov.uk or via the paper application form.

Parents should initially register their email address and will then be able to make their application. We recommend that parents apply for three choices of primary school, arranging their preferred schools to show which would be their first, second and third preference. All applications should be made to the local authority in which the family live and not where their preferred school is located.

Councillor , Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said:

“If parents or carers have not yet applied then I would urge you to do so, by meeting the deadline gives parents the best chance of getting their child into one of their preferred schools.

“Hull City Council has a good track record of offering places at preferred schools, last year we received 3,665 applications and we allocated 95 per cent of children one of their preferred schools.
“Education is so important to the start of a child’s life and their development; every child should have every opportunity to shine.”

Any parents or carers who do not have access to a PC, can call into a library or Customer Service Centre to use the available computers. Anyone who does not have an email address can request a form from the same places or by calling 01482 300 300. All paper applications must also be returned to the admissions team by 16 January 2017.

Parents who live in the East Riding have until 15 January 2017 to apply online at www.eastriding.gov.uk Parents in the East Riding who have any queries can contact their admissions team on 01482 392 100.

Any applications received after the deadline will be considered after all the other applications have been processed. This could mean there are no places left at a preferred or nearby school.

We will send parents the outcome of the application on 18 April 2017, either by email and letter.
