Textile Recycling Events Coming To Beverley & Tickton

Residents in Beverley, Hornsea and Tickton are being encouraged to join a summer campaign to boost the recycling of clothes, bedding, shoes and other textiles.

Waste and recycling officers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council are holding a series of textile collection events, inviting residents to bring along their old duvets, sheets, towels, clothes and shoes so they can be recycled and disposed of properly.

When the 2019 US Open commences at Flushing Meadows in New York City at the end of August, despite the distance, fans of tennis in Beverley will have a vested interest in the progress of one of the town’s former residents.

Kyle Edmund is a familiar name to members of the Beverley & East Riding Lawn Tennis Club, which is where the current British number one first began to hone his talent as a youngster. Indeed, the coaching program is run by head coach, Tom Davies, who contributed towards helping Edmund realise his ambitions of becoming a professional tennis player.

Vendors wishing to apply for a stall at the hugely popular Beverley Food Festival and The Christmas Festival of Food & Drink have until the 11 April to submit their application to Beverley Town Council.

Taking place on 7 October 2018, the Beverley Food Festival is one of the biggest events on the calendar attracting over 30,000 visitors to the town, while The Christmas Festival of Food & Drink will take place on 24 November.

Plans Finalised By Council To Remove Sunken Vessels From River Hull

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is appealing for information to help find the owners of 10 sunken vessels in the River Hull located between Tickton and Beverley Beck, as it finalises plans to remove them in September.

The vessels have been identified as causing an obstruction in the river and it was decided to remove them as part of the River Hull Integrated Catchment Strategy (RHICS), adopted by the River Hull Board in July 2015 and supported by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership, designed to improve the flow of the river and reduce the risk of flooding for local communities.
