A Beverley skincare specialist and director of an industry networking organisation has organised a conference to explore psychodermatology, neurocosmetics and wellbeing.

In her capacity as director, research and innovation pillar for Cosmetics Cluster UK Ltd (CCUK), Dr Katerina Steventon will chair and speak at the one-day ‘Bringing Psychodermatology into Personal Care’ conference in Liverpool on 10th September.

Race the Waves, an internationally recognised vintage motoring spectacular, will bring high-octane drag racing back to Bridlington’s South Bay next month.

The Hull Incorporated Law Society and The University of Hull have joined forces to step up for justice by organising Hull’s first Legal Walk in aid of the Access to Justice Foundation.

Due to take place on Wednesday 4 June, the Legal Walk will see legal professionals and their families and friends walk 10k to raise funds for legal agencies who offer free advice to those who need it most.

Councillor Liam Dealtry has been elected as the new chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council following the authority’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). 

Councillor Dealtry, who has been vice chairman for the last year, has served for six years as an Independent councillor representing the Bridlington Central and Old Town ward on East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

East Riding villages to host coastal erosion workshops

A series of events will be held for residents in coastal communities across the East Riding, to learn about the impact of coastal erosion in their area, and to feed back their priorities.

The events have been organised by the Changing Coasts East Riding (CCER) team, which is funded by Defra as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programme (CTAP). The programme is managed by the Environment Agency and delivered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Councils confirm continuation of ‘Freedom Pass’ to provide free bus travel for care leavers

A scheme enabling care leavers to receive free bus travel in Hull and the East Riding will continue thanks to new funding from Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

After initially being introduced in September 2024, the Young Person’s Freedom Pass, an initiative between the two local authorities and the region’s bus operators – East Yorkshire Buses and Stagecoach East Midlands – has been extended until March 2026 using Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding from the Department for Transport (DfT).

The Fostering Network’s annual campaign this year focuses on ‘the power of relationships’. Throughout the week East Riding Fostering is encouraging foster carers to take an hour to nurture relationships – from taking a walk, sharing a cake to hosting a family fun day!
