A group of local businesses in Beverley have rolled up their sleeves and got the paint out to tidy up their part of the town.

Business owners on Ladygate contacted East Riding of Yorkshire Council after there were ‘missed out’ when the local authority cleaned up the town centre.

When Beverley Town Council organised the first Food Festival in 2006, little did they know it would go on to be an annual success enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors alike.

The original idea was to bring a few producers from Beverley’s rural hinterland into the town centre to help celebrate local food, so on a crisp Sunday morning in 2006, thirty-five producers set up their stalls along with a small Food Theatre, in what proved to be a big success for the Town Council – one that has grown stronger year on year.

Staff and residents welcomed guests to enjoy a “Big Commonwealth Lunch” as part of the Global Friendship campaign, choosing to create dishes from New Zealand – including mouth-watering lamb roasted with garlic and rosemary followed by mixed berry pavlova.

Molescroft Parish Council Restored Village’s Roll of Honour

As the anniversary to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I approaches later this year, Molescroft Parish Council has restored the village’s Roll of Honour.

Parish Councillors David Boynton & Jackie Heffer formed a working group, with the aim of restoring the Roll of Honour which lists the names of 20 Molescroft servicemen who took up the call to arms in the conflict. The roll records the death of only one serviceman Lieutenant Edmund Wigfall Military cross.

Tesco Beverley’s Food Collection A Great Success

Tesco’s 10th Food Collection took place in all stores across the UK last weekend, with Tesco topping up customer donations by 20% to help charity partners FareShare and The Trussell Trust feed even more people in need.

The collection at Tesco’s Beverley store proved to be a fantastic success with customers donating 83 crates of food and £680 in cash donations, all of which will help provide food for people in need over the next few weeks. Our charity partner is East Yorkshire Foodbank, which is part of the Trussell Trust.
