As the Club year comes to an end, the members of Soroptimist International of Beverley and District were delighted to be able to present a cheque for £1257.56 in support of the vital work of the Macmillan Nurses team at Castle Hill Hospital.
This magnificent total was raised at the recent Fashion Show held at Tickton.
Generous members of Beverley & East Riding Golf Club helped last year’s Captain Jeff Worrall raise more than £3,000 for local charities.
Mr Worrall said he was delighted to present cheques for £2,000 to Becky Read representing MacMillan Nurses and £1,080 to Jan Stainforth of Beverley Community Lift.
Beverley and Hornsea Rotary Clubs are staging a ‘Music for Everyone’ concert later this month. It takes place at St Mary’s Church, Beverley, from 7.15pm on Friday 28 February.
Around 800 people attended a charity concert held at the Beverley Minster in aid of Mcmillan Nurses. On the night there were performances from Cottingham High School Choir, Transport Regiment Royal Logistic Corps Band, Beverley Pipe Band.

Hundreds enjoyed a fashion show at the Mercure Hotel that saw some of Beverley’s finest boutiques show off their latest fashions. Sugarbird Boutique, Kennedi Boutique, Mimi and Crew Clothing Co were among those who participated in the cat walk show. Students from Beverley Grammar School today held a coffee morning in aid of Cancer Research. The year 10 students arranged the Macmillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ event, with the help of their teacher Rebecca Coe. The Lady Le Gross was used as the venue for Demons MC Hull who hosted a motorbike rally rasing money for Macmillan Nurses. Local Councillor and bike enthusiast David Elvidge was at the event as he help judge winners in a selection of categories. There were a number of activities and stalls outside with tattoos being offered on site by local artist Jimmy Needles.

The Pearson family met to hand over £1000 to Macmillan Cancer Support on the Beverley Westwood this morning. It was also a poignant occasion as the Memorial Bench that Keith Pearson and his son Pip had bought was to be unveiled to the rest of the family.
