Great War Remembered Concert To Be Hosted By Town Council At Minster

Beverley Town Council is presenting an afternoon of music, song, poetry and special memories, as they present The Great War is Remembered.

Beverley Minster will be the venue that for the event which takes place on Saturday 3 November. Performances will be by Fallen Leaves, Humberside Police Concert Band, Four Candles and Cherie Lawrence.

Police Arrest Conman Who Targeted Local Elderly Residents

Humberside Police say a man has been arrested by detectives investigating reports a bogus Post Office worker conned elderly East Yorkshire residents into handing over their bank cards before stealing them.

The 39-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of theft and fraud by misrepresentation in connection with the incident. He has since been released pending further enquiries.

New Mini Display At Treasure House Explores 'Mr Aviation'

A new mini display on an intriguing East Riding figure has opened at the Treasure House in Beverley.

Albert Neville Medforth (1924-2007) was the Director of the East Yorkshire Aero Company in the 1950s & 1960s, and his primary goal in life was to restart flying from the former Hedon Aerodrome, an airfield which had been in use for ten years prior to World War Two. Although ultimately unsuccessful in this venture, he did eventually found an airfield in Paull, which was open until the early-1980s.
