East Riding residents who register for YORSwitch to try to make a saving on their energy bills will receive an instant offer.

More than 47,500 people took part in this successful auction (via East Riding of Yorkshire Council and non-council partners), and as part of the council’s pledge, the electricity tariffs will be 100% renewable which will both save residents money and reduce carbon emissions.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has completed on the acquisition of 145 affordable homes from Your Housing Group under a stock transfer agreement. 

The homes, 129 of which are for rent and 16 for shared ownership, will transfer to the council, along with the tenants and leaseholders, whose statutory rights remain unaffected.

On 1 October 2020 the tenth history board was put in place in Eastgate, to replace a damaged board there, close to the footage entry to the Friary and Eastgate site.

It is the last in the present phase of these boards, which have been warmly welcomed by visitors and residents. The planning of these boards began in 2017, under the leadership of John Bird.

Homes and businesses in rural parts of the East Riding will be able to access faster and more reliable internet speeds thanks to extra funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

As part of the Government’s £22million Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, the council has committed an additional £500,000 to help its residents and businesses in hard-to-reach places to get even better connected as part of a group scheme.
