Councillor To Champion Equality, Diversity And Inclusion Across The East Riding

Giving a voice to the minority groups across the East Riding and making sure everyone matters is the aim of new equalities, diversity and inclusion champion, Councillor Jacob Birch.

Councillor Birch was given the role after Councillor Jonathan Owen became leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council earlier this year and made equality, diversity and inclusion one of his priorities.

Residents Passes For East Riding Household Waste Recycling Sites

From 1 October 2021, all cars entering an East Riding Household Waste Recycling Site (HWRS) will need to display a resident’s pass – proving residence in the East Riding – to gain entry to the site.  

Every household in the East Riding will receive their household’s pass in the post by 16 August 2021 advising of changes to waste collection dates. The passes are provided free of charge, and can be used for any of the ten East Riding HWRS.

Do It For East Yorkshire Community Grant Scheme Launches

The iconic City of Culture volunteering programme has received funding for a further three years from Spirit of 2012.

The programme, which was fundamental to the success of Hull UK City of Culture 2017 and has continued to be run by Absolutely Cultured since 2018, will now be hosted by Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) as part of plans to increase its impact in the wider region.
