Beverley Town Beavers beat Ricketts 2- 1 this weekend. On target for Beverley were Michael O’connell and Jonny Vodden. Michael O’connell opened the scoring after a mix up in defence allowed him to sneak in behind the keeper and score into an open goal. Ten Beverley Athletic Club athletes joined over 30,000 other runners in the 30th Great North Run on Sunday. With so many competitors crowding the route it is very difficult to achieve a personal best time so all had different reasons for taking part. Beverley Grandmother Karen O’Connor ran her first half-marathon this Sunday 19th September when she took part in the Great North Run. Although Karen has run several 10k races in the past, this year she had a special reason to tackle this challenge as she ran the race in memory of her brother, Kelvin Buck. Conditions were perfect for Sunday’s Burton Pidsea 10k and a record number of runners took part. The 10k and fun run raised £1600 for the village hall appeal.
