MBE For Former Beverley High School Student

A former Beverley High School student who works globally to help governments tackle challenges including pandemics, terrorism, corruption, war crimes and modern slavery has been awarded the MBE for services to international trade.

Helen Gibson, Managing Director of Agencia, credited her family and colleagues for their part in earning the honour, which recognises the company’s activities in some of the world’s trouble spots.

New Exhibition At Treasure House Celebrates Working Hands

A new exhibition portraying the skills and satisfaction of manual occupations is coming to The Treasure House, Beverley, on 10 November.

The creation of photographer Peter Barker, ‘Working Hands’ is a series of photographs which show how hand and mind are linked in skilled work, from bookbinding to sheepshearing, from hat making to dog grooming. The photographs suggest a connection between inner and outer worlds, between body and mind, and between thinking and doing.

SSAFA the Armed Forces Charity have joined forces with St. Mary’s Church in Beverley to stage a spectacular professionally designed Flower Festival  called Beauty From Chaos.

Running from 9-12 August, the event created to Commemorate 100 years since the end of WWI, mark the Royal Air Force centenary and give thanks to those who have served.
