East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that work to improve the nature trail around South Landing Local Nature Reserve is due to begin soon. The work will mean restricted access to the site until Christmas.

The surface of the nature trail has deteriorated over the past few years, resulting in the surface becoming rutted and unusable, especially for users of wheelchairs and families with pushchairs.

East Riding Residents Urged To Take Up Free Flu Vaccine

Public Health England (PHE) and the NHS’s joint Stay Well This Winter campaign has launched with the national flu vaccination programme, now available nationwide to all eligible people.

Last year in Yorkshire and the Humber, 38% of children aged 2-4 years were vaccinated, with children also offered the vaccine in school years 1, 2 and 3. The vaccine was also administered to 48% of people in at-risk groups and 72% of people aged 65 or older. Uptake by pregnant women nationally was 45%.

Year five students at Stoneferry Primary School took part in an interactive workshop where they engaged in a range of flood-related activities where they were taught which household objects can be the most useful in a flood and saw them using a geographic model to better understand how rivers flow.
