A plaque commemorating the Hull Literary and Philosophical Society’s role in the cultural and educational history of the city over 200 years will be unveiled at the Museums Quarter this Thursday (9 October).
The plaque stands in front of three figures depicting Minerva in the Museums Quarter Gardens, that once stood on the pediment of the Royal Institution building in Albion Street, the home of the society from 1854 to 1943 and Hull’s Municipal Museum.

The opening game of the 25/26 season at Beaver Park the home of Beverley RUFC was a thriller, played out to the death, literally the last kick of the game, the visitors Yarnbury RUFC stealing back the spoils in what was a great afternoon at Beaver Park. Although the result didn’t quite go the way of the Beavers, the atmosphere, weather and rugby meant everyone left satisfied they’d had a great day out.

A couple with almost six decades of memories together have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary at Overton House care home in Cottingham.
