Beavers U14s Show Improvement Against Strong Hullensians Side

With Beverley Under 14s Yorkshire Plate Final match against Ripon postponed, they accepted an invitation for a training match against Hullensians, probably one of the best teams in Yorkshire.

With the game split in three segments, both teams started with arguably their strongest 15 players, unlike in previous seasons the match was a very close contest showing the huge improvements the Beverley have made over the past season.

Panel Supports Commissioner’s Proposal To Raise Police Precept

Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter presented his proposals to raise the portion of council tax used to pay for policing, known as the police precept, to the Humberside Police and Crime Panel. The panel voted unanimously in favour of an increase of 1.99%.

The Commissioner proposed the precept increase for 2017/18, meaning the amount paid on a typical Band D property would rise by around 7p per week from £183.67 to £187.33 for the year.

As a member of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), wireless internet provider Quickline, hopes to raise parents’ awareness of their children’s online activity for Safer Internet Day on 7 February 2017.

Last year, Safer Internet Day reached over 2.8 million children and 2.5 million parents across the world, aiming to help create a better and safer online community. Quickline will be taking part in the IWF’s online Emoji Charades, sharing their best Internet safety tips in emoji format, via social media for followers to translate.

Cllr Denis Healy Says He Will Vote Against Council Tax Increase

St. Mary’s ward councillor Denis Healy has revealed that he will be voting against the East Riding Council’s budget at the Council’s budget meeting this Thursday.

The budget, which proposes a Council tax increase of 4.99pc, also sees a reduction of 2.5pc to the Council’s Public Health budget, and an eye watering 72pc reduction in the Education Services grant, piling further pressures on already over stretched hospitals and schools.
