Government changes to the Vehicle Excess Duty (VED) will see a radical overhaul of how cars are taxed as of 1st April meaning the cost of ownership could increase. Local Vauxhall retailer, Evans Halshaw, is highlighting how these changes will impact on motorists.

The updated road tax measures will affect buyers of new cars as the revision of the vehicle tax bands could see motorists pay more for VED from April 2017. With that in mind, Evans Halshaw is recommending that motorists in the market for a new car consider buying it before the changes come into force.

Urgent Care Plans Approved By East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group

The future of urgent care services in the East Riding of Yorkshire have today been confirmed, with three urgent care centres open 365 days per year set to be introduced in Beverley, Bridlington and Goole, replacing the current minor injury units across the region.

The decision was also made to create an integrated community and intensive rehabilitation centre in Beverley, which will be supported by Time to Think beds, meaning current community hospital beds in Bridlington and Withernsea will close. A number of Time to Think beds will be located in Holderness and Bridlington.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s public health team is supporting the annual ‘Act F.A.S.T.’ stroke campaign, which runs throughout the month of March, to empower people to call 999 at any sign of a stroke.

Public Health England has re-launched the national ‘Act FAST’ stroke campaign, which runs until 31 March, working closely with the Stroke Association.

N.U.R.S.E is a local registered charity and consists of four committee members who raise money to fund much-needed medical equipment for local hospitals and the surrounding community.

The Tidal Waves team are reminding people wanting to attend the Tidal Waves Beach Music Festival in Bridlington on 9 and 10 June that ‘Early-bird’ tickets, priced at £14 for the Friday evening and £36 for Saturday, are available until 31 March, 2017. Festival tickets for both days are £48.

There are also child tickets available – £20 for the Saturday, or £30 for the full weekend. There will also be a platform for wheelchair users (restricted to 30 plus one carer/friend).
