Lack Of Food Hygiene Skills Putting Residents At Risk

People in the Yorkshire and Humber region are still putting themselves at risk of food poisoning through lack of knowledge of food hygiene, according to research by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

A recent survey carried out by the FSA to mark the start of Food Safety Week, revealed many people were not familiar with the four “c’s” of food hygiene – chilling, cooking, cleaning and avoiding cross-contamination.

Brewery Team Wins Fundraising Dragon Boat Race

An East Yorkshire brewery’s team of oarsmen stormed into first place when they competed in the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers’ dragon boat race at Wykeham Lakes recently.

The sixteen-strong team Wold Top Warriors, comprising staff, family and friends of Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery, was one of 26 teams entering the races that took place on Sunday June 11.

In a true show of community spirit, families from Cherry Burton and beyond gathered at the Humber Bridge last weekend to take part in a sponsored bike ride across the bridge to raise vital funds for local charity Cherry Burton Pre-school.

Despite a ferocious wind, supporters of this local charity in ages ranging from one year old to 73 years old, battled across the bridge on bikes, trikes, scooters and on foot, to the finish line where they were greeted by family and friends. All the children who took part have been busy earning sponsorship for this challenge and will altogether have raised around £700 for the Pre-school.
