A group of young people taking part in the Tigers Trust NCS project have raised over £200 for the charity When You Wish Upon a Star.

Held at The Beaver Pub in Beverley, the group held a night of music raising money through donations and selling tickets for a prize draw.

Speaking about the event, Team Leader Assistant, Megan Tattersall said;

“We think the event went amazingly well being organised by a group of 15 to 16 year olds.”

“Everything ran very smoothly with no hiccups. I am so proud that they were able to organise everything from a venue, bands, a singer, prizes and more.”

“In all we raised £235 without small change – which is a fantastic total.”

Megan explained why the charity, When You Wish Upon a Star, which aims to grant the wishes of children living with a life threatening illness, she said;

“We chose When You Wish Upon a Star because one of the girls in my team sadly had Ovarian cancer at the age of 8 years old.”

“This charity is very special for her as it helped her, her family and friends get through an impossible time.”

“We wanted to give back to this charity for helping one of our girls, and not only raise money but also awareness of what they do.”

“Everyone connected with the event would like to say a special thank you to a number of local businesses who supported the night.”

“There were some lovely prices which were donated from shops including Browns of Beverley, Boots and The Beaver themselves were just fantastic.”
