The Potting Shed To Celebrate First Anniversary In Style

The Potting Shed in Beverley will be celebrating its first birthday this weekend with a day of live music, pop-up bars, party food and some garden-themed surprises.

Taking place this Sunday, August 13 from midday, the bar and gardens on Flemingate is planning to mark its big day in spectacular style with fire performers, stilt walkers and a special version of its popular Shed Stock sessions featuring a line-up of artists and bands.

Classically Yours Brings Top Musicians To Beverley This Autumn

Classically Yours – one of the key events in the East Riding’s celebration of Hull UK City of Culture 2017 – continues this autumn with more events across the area.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Orchestras Live have joined forces to bring orchestral music to venues across the East Riding. Thanks to a grant from Arts Council England, and investment from the council – which is a Principal Partner in Hull 2017 – and Orchestras Live, Classically Yours will see some of the UK’s top orchestras, including Manchester Camerata, Sinfonia Viva and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, coming to the area.

It’s Zumbathon Time – Former X-Factor Contestant to Lead Fitness Class

Former X Factor star Chico is to lead a dance and fitness class as part of a fund-raising Zumbathon in support of people affected by dementia in the East Riding.

Chico, who rose to fame after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2005 series of talent show The X Factor, will lead an hour-long Block Fit session as part of the Zumbathon at East Riding Leisure Beverley on Saturday 12 August.

James Westmoreland Completes Both Rounds At Thruxton

Beverley racer James Westmoreland competed in round seven of the British Superbike Championship (BSB) around the notorius Thruxton circuit in Hampshire on board the Gearlink Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Qualifying saw him place the Kawasaki thirteenth on the grid with a 1min 15.2sec lap.  As racing got underway he dropped back to eighteenth after a slow start.

Around 70 miles of road has been improved this summer as part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s annual surface dressing programme.

Research Shows Yorkshire Least Environmentally Friendly

A leading vegan charity has published research that shows a staggering 40% of Yorkshire-based respondents have jokingly answered it results in a “wide range of dishes that can be eaten” when asked about animal agriculture’s impact on the environment.

Research commissioned by The Vegan Society showed that Yorkshire and the Humber was one of the least environmentally friendly group surveyed, with 7% doing nothing to help the planet on a weekly basis.
