Newland Avenue To Re-Open Temporarily For Motorists During Hull Fair

Newland Avenue will reopen temporarily on Monday 2 October for two weeks to allow full access to Hull Fair for public transport, emergency services, and motorists.

Phase one has been completed ahead of schedule, allowing the road to be reopened. This will give unrestricted access to businesses along Newland Avenue, and allow the scheduled bus services to travel along the street during this period.

In April, residents of Orchard Garth, Orchard Close and Woodhall Way approached their ward councillors with a petition calling for yellow lines on their streets because of continual problems with cars parking and blocking access on Orchard Garth and restricting access for emergency services, delivery vehicles and refuse collection lorries.

East Riding schools are set to benefit from a new National Funding Formula (NFF) in 2018 after years of campaigning by local MP, Graham Stuart. Graham founded the national Fair School Funding Campaign and organised a long series of Parliamentary events, debates, meetings and photo calls to highlight the issue and pressure the Government into action.

He has worked closely with local heads and the East Riding Council to demand a fairer system. The formula, which will come into effect from 2018, will give every local school a cash boost and provide a more transparent system for educational funding.

Licence Revoked Of Bridlington Private Hire Operator

A private hire firm in Bridlington has ceased trading with immediate effect after an appeal by the operator against the revocation of his licence was withdrawn.

Ian Sharp, of South Dene Hotel in Bridlington and the operator of Q Cars, had his licence revoked in February by East Riding of Yorkshire Council following concerns around issues including safeguarding and public protection; record keeping, his conduct and breaches of his operators’ licence.

East Riding Theatre Thrilled To Present Next Production KISS ME

Opening on 5th October, East Riding Theatre in Beverley is producing Kiss Me by Richard Bean, writer of sell-out shows The Hypocrite at Hull Truck Theatre and international hit One Man Two Guvnors in London’s West End and on Broadway.

Kiss Me transferred from Hampstead Theatre to the West End earlier this year, but ERT’s show will be the first time the play has been produced outside of London.
