Removal Of Sunken Vessels From The River Hull Completed

Contractors working on behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire Council have removed 13 sunken vessels from the River Hull, between Tickton and Beverley Beck, during the month of September.

Removing the vessels was an operational requirement of the multi-million-pound River Hull Integrated Catchment Strategy (RHICS), which was adopted by the River Hull Board in July 2015.

Road closures remain in place on Beverley Road, Hull between Fountain Road and Freetown Way due to an ongoing incident where a man has taken to the roof of a property.

Both vehicles and pedestrians are unable to travel through the area at this time. There is some limited access for those wishing to enter premises, officers are in attendance at the road closures to advise anyone wishing to do so.

The MP, who for many years has championed greater awareness and availability of Community Public Access Defibrillators (CPADs) across East Yorkshire, said the conference had helped build a strategy for improving provision and education across the region.

Due to an imminent knee replacement operation Richard Bean is unable to see the show for himself but has recently sent the cast, local actor Edward Cole with Bettine Mackenzie who recently appeared in Adrian Rawlins production of The Night Season, a card thanking them for their truthful portrayal of his characters.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has commissioned a colossal artwork by Gary Saunt, which goes on display free of charge at the Treasure House in Beverley on Saturday, 21 October, as the latest stage of its contribution to Hull UK City of Culture 2017

The huge digital painting – measuring over 20 metres in length – has been produced to celebrate the transformational impact of this cultural event on Hull and the East Riding. Gary’s artwork takes the viewer on a cultural pilgrimage from Beverley to Hull.

An exciting new exhibition that uses the unique medium of prosthetics to create highly stylised art pieces is being brought to the city by Artlink as part of Square Peg, a diversity and disability arts programme funded by Hull UK City of Culture 2017 and backed by its Principal Partner Spirit of 2012.

Working in collaboration with The Alternative Limb Project, Fly Girl Films, Kelly Knox and Omkaar Kotedia, Centre of Attention will showcase cutting edge prosthetic limbs, film, and photography. Beverley Community Lift, the local charity that provides transport services for elderly and disabled people, was dealt a severe blow recently when its Chief Executive, Jan Stainforth, received a letter from the Department for Transport, setting out its proposals to impose restrictions that could have a seriously damaging impact on the Charity’s core services, possibly even leading to Beverley Community Lift being forced to close down.

East Rising Ward Councillor, Denis Healy, whose St Mary’s ward includes Beverley Community Lift, explained the problem in more detail following a meeting with Jan Stainforth.
