Grants Available To Improve Home Security For The Elderly & Disabled

Residents across the East Riding wishing to improve their home security may be able eligible to apply for a grant.

The safe and sound scheme, which is run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is a pot of money which is available to vulnerable people in order for them to install additional security measures, such as additional door and window locks, door chains and window alarms.

Marshmallow Laser Feast Unleashes ‘a Colossal Wave!

Marshmallow Laser Feast (MLF) – the creative studio that explores human perception through bleeding edge tech – is set to unleash its latest virtual reality (VR) art installation, A Colossal Wave!, on Hull UK City of Culture 2017, from 1 to 10 December.

Commissioned by the British Council in collaboration with pioneering Canadian artists (Presstube, Dpt. and Headspace), the MLF-spearheaded installation is an artistic extravaganza that combines the latest innovations in interactive and interconnected VR with computer graphic ‘voice fruit’ artworks generated by the public, Newton’s theories of cause and effect, a giant sculpture and a thought-provoking message about marine pollution.

Residents To Stage Protest Over Councils Plans To Axe Wardens

Sheltered Housing schemes residents will be joined on Wednesday by local campaigners opposed to East Riding Council proposals which would see warden numbers in Sheltered Accommodation slashed. 

In July, ERYC proposed a shake up of arrangements for the area’s Sheltered Housing schemes which would see 53 dedicated wardens being replaced by 11 mobile wardens.
